Slayers
Blurb:Dragons exist. They’re ferocious. And they’re smart: Before they were killed off by slayer-knights, they rendered a select group of eggs dormant, so their offspring would survive. Only a handful of people know about this, let alone believe it – these “Slayers” are descended from the original knights, and are now a diverse group of teens that includes Tori, a smart but spoiled senator’s daughter who didn’t sign up to save the world.
The dragon eggs have fallen into the wrong hands. The Slayers must work together to stop the eggs from hatching. They will fight; they will fall in love. But will they survive?

My Thoughts:
I had pretty high expectations from Slayers.Unfortunately very few books have lived upto my high expectations, and this book didn't either.
The Prologue was a little too long and didn't leave you wanting more but the book picked up pace in the first chapter. I liked Tori ,I didn't love her but I liked her.She wasn't a spoiled rich kid ,she was a rich kid who was a pretty but a geek inside.
The story was quite good but the pacing wasn't so great. When I was through 70% of the book, the pace picked up and the story became very interesting.
I also loved the fact that we got a peak at what was going on in different characters heads.I love books that have chapters from various characters POV(point of view).
I also liked Dirk and Jesse i.e the hot guys of the book.I considered Dirk to be more of a secondary character till I was halfway through the book, then BAM out of nowhere he's suddenly in the spotlight.Jesse was the guy I was swooning over in this book and I was dying to read more chapters from his POV.
The love triangle seemed a little forced too.It seemed as if the author decided that there was going to be a love triangle at the last second and added it to the story-line midway!
I probably would have liked this book much more if there was more light banter between the characters. The characters took themselves way TOO seriously. There were some scenes which made me smile (Thank you Dirk and Bess) but I wanted more! I understand that they were in a precarious situation but I think I would have enjoyed this book much more if there had been a little more silliness and playfulness in it .
Also the group's obsession with Ryker(love the name) was a little bit unsettling.I felt like screaming at the characters "HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW YOU EXIST! Stop BLAMING him already! Plus,You're giving him way too much importance. You should focus your energy on the people who left!"
The one thing I really liked was the ending.I really liked it! It's not a cliffhanger but it intrigues you . If there's a sequel to this book I will definitely be reading it!
Overall, even though this book did not live up to my expectations,I couldn't put it down and can't wait to read what happens next!
My Rating:
(3/5)
