My Thoughts on The Hunger Games(Movie)

So I finally saw The Hunger Games....

I will say that my expectations were SKY HIGH !
Like Really HIGH!
So I was a little disappointed ....but the movie was very faithful to the book and Jennifer Lawrence was AMAZING as Katniss (That girl can act!)

Positives
Isabelle Fuhrman

  • I  loved the scenes that were not originally part of the book (Eg.Seneca Crane and President Snow talking,The Gamechangers controlling the game..)
  • I  really liked the way they showed Katniss's hallucinations
  • I absolutely loved how Seneca and President Snow were portrayed! Their presence was felt.I didn't really feel their presence in the first book.
  • Haymitch was a great surprise in the movie.I hated Haymitch in the book but I really liked him in the movie ...I never saw what he did in that way and I loved him!
  • Isabelle Fuhrman who played Clove in the movie .She had a small role but I thought she was perfect!!! (I was convinced she was Foxface for a long time.... )
  • The scene in which Katniss says "Thank you for your consideration" Just like I imagined
  • The District 11 scene.LOVE!
  • The technology of the Capitol was very impressive .Loved seeing the gadgets.
  • *SPOILER for movie* I loved the way they showed Seneca being offered the berries at the end it was the most awesome scene ever! *SPOILER FOR MOVIE ENDS*

Negatives
  • “One more time? For the audience?" he says. His voice isn't angry. It's hollow, which is worse. Already the boy with the bread is slipping away from me.
I take his hand, holding on tightly, preparing for the cameras, and dreading the moment when I will finally have to let go.”   Remember this line and the conversation before that? It isn't there in the movie and before you start saying that it's an insignificant detail let me tell you why it's not. I saw the movie with a person who hasn't read the book and at the end of the movie she was convinced that Peeta and Katniss were together because It wasn't mentioned anywhere that she was acting like she was in love with Peeta in the arena and at the end there's nothing that points towards the fact that they aren't in love with each other and that they aren't together.
(her argument) This totally changes the entire ending of the book and I'm pretty annoyed about this.Maybe this will be explained in the next movie?
  • I like Josh Hutcherson I really do but I couldn't really connect with the Peeta onscreen. This had nothing to do with his acting but everything to do with the cave scene ... it was well done but there was something missing.I fell in love with Peeta after the cave scene in the book and sadly I just thought that the movie didn't do it as well ...
  • The cornucopia. That's all I'm going to say.
  • I felt that at some points the games were a little rushed and the build up to the games was dragging a "little" bit.I think some scenes needed a little more time in the games (Eg.cave scene and Rue..)
  • Cinna.I don't have a problem with the actor. The actor was fine I had a problem with the fact that he looked too normal.I loved the rapport that he had with Katniss but the Cinna in the book I'm pretty sure would not be wearing normal clothes ...like jeans or trousers .
Overall, the movie leaves a lasting impression(JUST LIKE THE BOOK ) and I  will most probably love it much more once I watch it again.

This book sounds awesome! Even though the cover is quite creepy I cannot wait to read it because a drug that can bring you back from death? How awesome is that!

Favorite Teasers from The Dig

Like any well adjusted person who knows the difference between real life and fantasy,I realize that nymphs are the stuff of legend. They don't actually exist.
Maybe somebody should tell her that because she looks very real right now as the men keep swinging their clubs at her.

So this is just another day in the life of your average goddess: magical granola bar wrapper management and nymph worship.

Oh no.Did I really say something that dorky? I beg you, cheeks, please, please don't blush.I will pay you not to turn red.I will give you millions of dollars if we're ever back in the land of American currency.

She's telling me that Ares   is  her boyfriend and if I so much as ask him for directions to the dining hall,I'll face her jealous wrath.

"With power comes immortality."
"Like a vampire...."
"A what?"
"Never mind."

"Okay, don't take this the wrong way ...."
"What?"
"Well, you're um,you're kind of a legendary bad guy."
"Me?"

Waiting on Wednesday

Dark Star
Audrey Whitticomb has nothing to fear. Her mother is the superhero Morning Star, the most deadly crime-fighter in the Twin Cities, so it’s hard for Audrey not to feel safe. That is, until she’s lured into the sweet night air by something human and not human—something with talons and teeth, and a wide, scarlet smile.

Now Audrey knows the truth: her mom doesn’t fight crime at night. She fights Harrowers—livid, merciless beings who were trapped Beneath eons ago. Yet some have managed to escape. And they want Audrey dead, just because of who she is: one of the Kin.

To survive, Audrey will need to sharpen the powers she has always had. When she gets close to someone, dark corners of the person’s memories become her own, and she sometimes even glimpses the future. If Audrey could only get close to Patrick Tigue, a powerful Harrower masquerading as human, she could use her Knowing to discover the Harrowers’ next move. But Leon, her mother’s bossy, infuriatingly attractive sidekick, has other ideas. Lately, he won’t let Audrey out of his sight.

When an unthinkable betrayal puts Minneapolis in terrible danger, Audrey discovers a wild, untamed power within herself. It may be the key to saving her herself, her family, and her city. Or it may be the force that destroys everything—and everyone—she loves.

The cover and the word superheroes was good enough for me!

 Incapable. Awkward. Artless.

That’s what the other girls whisper behind her back. But sixteen year-old Adelice Lewys has a secret: she wants to fail.

Gifted with the ability to weave time with matter, she’s exactly what the Guild is looking for, and in the world of Arras, being chosen as a Spinster is everything a girl could want. It means privilege, eternal beauty, and being something other than a secretary. It also means the power to embroider the very fabric of life. But if controlling what people eat, where they live and how many children they have is the price of having it all, Adelice isn’t interested.

Not that her feelings matter, because she slipped and wove a moment at testing, and they’re coming for her—tonight.

Now she has one hour to eat her mom’s overcooked pot roast. One hour to listen to her sister’s academy gossip and laugh at her Dad’s stupid jokes. One hour to pretend everything’s okay. And one hour to escape.

Because once you become a Spinster, there’s no turning back.

Valek's right hand blurred into motion with two quick snaps of his wrist. It looked as if he had saluted both guards. Before the men could react,he was between them, too close for swords. He crouched low,put his hands on the floor and spun.Using his legs,Valek windmilled both guards to the ground.

Cover Alert! + Excerpt

This was supposed to be up on 12th March but thanks to my stupidity (I saved it as draft by mistake) it's up a little late. But they do say BETTER LATE THAN NEVER!

So here's the cover of

My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century

and here's an Excerpt...

Alessandra jerks back like I just suggested she prance around the square naked or something. “No! I believe I understand your meaning, and Lorenzo is certainly not my suitor. He is like a brother to me—the three of us grew up together.”
She resumes walking and I fall in step beside her, understanding there has to be more to the story. And as we near the end of the row, I finally ask, “If you’re not into the guy, then what’s the problem?”
At that same moment, a rich, deep chuckle hits my ears. My stomach involuntarily clenches and my gaze sharpens on the back of this mysterious Lorenzo.
Alessandra sighs. “That is the problem.” She places her hand on my arm and solemnly looks me in the eyes. “You must be careful. Lorenzo is beautiful, and it is not uncommon for a girl to walk away from meeting him with a piece of her heart left behind. But he is just eighteen, and not yet ready for marriage.”
I roll my eyes and laugh, then realize she’s serious. “Yeah, I assure you, there’s no danger on my end. I’m not exactly looking for marriage myself.” Because that would be crazy-town.
Alessandra wrinkles her nose as if she doesn’t believe me, but she removes her hand. We close the distance and Cipriano flashes me an open, honest to goodness, lighthearted smile.
“Lorenzo, this is the cousin I was telling you about.”
Slowly the guy turns and I fall head first into the richest chocolate-brown eyes I’ve ever seen. He blinks and long, luscious lashes feather across his bronzed cheeks. I can feel myself gawking, but I physically can’t drag my eyes away. Lorenzo doesn’t smirk or act all conceited, either. He simply stares back, his eyes casually skimming over me, causing my skin to warm and break out in a whole body tingle.
Time seems to stop, and the sounds of the market mute. Alessandra was right. This boy is beautiful.
And he’s looking at me.

Awesome News Feat. Cassandra Clare and Jennifer Armentrout!

Cassandra Clare is going to write a new series called

The Dark Artifices

What it's about....

Los Angeles, 2012. It’s been five years since the events of the Mortal Instruments when Nephilim stood poised on the brink of oblivion and Shadowhunter Emma Carstairs lost her parents. After the blood and violence she witnessed as a child, Emma has dedicated her life to the eradication of demons and being the best, fastest and deadliest Shadowhunter since Jace Lightwood. Raised in the Los Angeles Institute, Emma is paired as a parabatai with her best friend, Julian. As Emma hunts those who caused the death of her parents, the trail they’re following leads back to those they’ve always been taught to trust. At the same time, Emma is falling in love with Julian — her closest friend and, because he is her parabatai, the one person in the world she’s absolutely forbidden by Shadowhunter Law to love. Set against the glittering backdrop of present-day Los Angeles, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches from the warlock-run nightclubs of the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica.

What do you think? I personally would have preferred if she would have written a book that was set in a different world but the blurb looks interesting...So we'll just have to wait TILL 2015 and see...

Jennifer Armentrout's book Pure is available on KINDLE and Nook (Finally!) for $5.99!
This is book 2 in the covenant series.Check out my review of Half Blood (Book #1) HERE

From What I Remember...
Blurb:
KYLIE: Tijuana WHAT? I should be putting the finishing touches on my valedictorian speech. Graduation is TODAY, and is this a wedding band on my finger.

MAX: It all started with Kylie's laptop and a truck full of stolen electronics .Okay, it was kind of hot, the way she broke us out like some chick in an action movie. But now we're stranded in TIjuana. WIth less than twenty-four hours before graduation. Awesome.

WILL: Saving Kylie Flores from herself is kind of a full-time occupation. Luckily, I, Will Bixby, was born for the job. And when I found out she was stuck in Mexico with dreamy Max Langston, sure, I agreed to bring thier passports across the border--but there's no reason to rush back home right away. This party is just getting started.

LILY: I just walked in on my boyfriend, Max Langston, canoodling with Kylie Flores, freak of the century. Still, I can't completely hold it against him. He NEEDS me. It's even clearer now. And I'm not giving him up without a fight

Mini Review: Between The Lines

Between the Lines (Between the Lines #1)
Blurb:
When Hollywood It Boy, Reid Alexander, arrives on location to shoot his next movie, his goals are the same as always—film another blockbuster hit and enjoy his celebrity status to the fullest while doing so. His costar is a virtual unknown with whom he had blazing hot chemistry during her auditions. The universe is lining up nicely to grant whatever he wants, as usual, until he’s confronted with unexpected obstacles on location like a bitter ex-girlfriend and a rival for the first girl to spark his genuine interest in years.

Emma Pierce just got her big break after more than a decade of filming commercials for grape juice, department stores and tampons, and more recently, bit parts in made-for-TV movies. Nailing the lead role in a wide-release film sent her agent, father and stepmother into raptures, and should have done the same for her. The Problem? Emma is experiencing a building desire to be normal, and starring in a silly, modernized adaptation of one of her favorite novels—opposite the very hot Reid Alexander—isn’t going to advance that aspiration.

Graham Douglas doesn’t fear playing the part of a nerdy dimwit; when it comes to choosing film roles, if it pays, he’ll do it. Besides, his friend Brooke Cameron snatched up the role of the bitchy hot girl and could use his help as a buffer, because her ex is the star. Graham has no problem keeping a handle on the situation, until he finds himself attracted to Reid’s costar, Emma, the girl Reid is pursuing full-throttle with his standard arsenal of charm, good looks and arrogance.

Note: Mature teens+ (language/drinking/sexual situations)
Not suitable for teens below 16 years of age.

My Thoughts:
I had pretty high expectations from this one and I was a little disappointed but I finished this book in one sitting so I cannot deny the fact that I was hooked.I'm not a huge fan of Emma and Reid but they seemed  real .The author doesn't try to sugarcoat reality for you.She makes it pretty clear that the film-star life is no great party. It's work and it's hard .I really liked that about this book.
I also found the fact that the story was told from two point of views (Emma and Reid) refreshing but a little confusing at times.
One character I loved was Graham. This guy seemed too good to be true and it was nice to find out that he wasn't perfect.I look forward to reading more from Tammara Webber but I would like to mention the fact that there is a lot of content that is not suitable for younger readers at all!

My Rating:
3/5

Note: I LOVED the second book in the series Where You Are ,so MUCH! I would suggest you read the first book just to enjoy the second one! The second book is AMAZING!

Review:Unearthly

Unearthly (Unearthly #1)
 Blurb:
In the beginning, there's a boy standing in the trees . . . .
Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy.
Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side.
As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?
Unearthly is a moving tale of love and fate, and the struggle between following the rules and following your heart.

My Thoughts:
I have been meaning to pick up  this book for so long  because of the glowing reviews I've been reading  EVERYWHERE! I'm glad that I've finally read it!

I liked this book.I'm not in love with it but it was an entertaining read.I loved the relationship Clara had with her mother it's nice that her mother was in the loop even though sometimes I felt as if the she was pushing Clara towards her "destiny". I also liked the fact that the sibling wasn't completely ignored and his presence was felt.

Lets Talk Characters

Clara
I have mixed feelings toward her.I liked her  but sometimes I just wanted her to grow a backbone ( especially towards the whole "destiny" thing). Most of the time I could connect with her and that's something I really liked about this book! Even though Clara's part angel .. she makes mistakes , embarrasses herself etc.You can easily relate, sympathize and fall in love with her.

Tucker
I LOVE THIS GUY! I want a Team Tucker badge!!(If anyone knows where we can get one PLEASE TELL ME!)
Tucker is normal and irritating (towards Clara ) but that's what I love about this guy. He's NORMAL and such a patient guy. He's also pretty sarcastic (at times).Need I say more?

“Tucker," I say. "I'm so glad you're still here."
I throw myself into his arms. He hugs me tightly.
"I couldn't leave," he says.
"I know."
"I mean, literally. I don't have a ride.”

Christian
I was not impressed by this guy. I think the main reason could be because we didn't really get a peek into his personality. He was supposed to be the main character but he just disappeared towards the  middle of the book. Also he seemed like a typical popular guy ...I have a hard time believing that this guy is supposed to be Tucker's rival for Clara's affection! I mean I didn't think this guy was even fighting for her affections but maybe this will change in book 2 ...

I think the main reason I've not fallen in LOVE with this book is because the villains didn't scare or even frighten me . I also felt as if the real story started in  the last few chapters.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found it to be an interesting ,light and entertaining read.I look forward to reading the sequel (Hallowed)

My Rating:
3.5/5

Great Fun.

Looking Forward to the sequel.

*This book counts towards the 2012 TBR challenge.
