Review: Everneath

Everneath (Everneath #1)
 Blurb:
Last spring, Nikki Beckett vanished, sucked into an underworld known as the Everneath, where immortals Feed on the emotions of despairing humans. Now she's returned- to her old life, her family, her friends- before being banished back to the underworld... this time forever.

She has six months before the Everneath comes to claim her, six months for good-byes she can't find the words for, six months to find redemption, if it exists.

Nikki longs to spend these months reconnecting with her boyfriend, Jack, the one person she loves more than anything. But there's a problem: Cole, the smoldering immortal who first enticed her to the Everneath, has followed Nikki to the mortal world. And he'll do whatever it takes to bring her back- this time as his queen.

As Nikki's time grows short and her relationships begin slipping from her grasp, she's forced to make the hardest decision of her life: find a way to cheat fate and remain on the Surface with Jack or return to the Everneath and become Cole's...

My Thoughts:
I have been dying to get my hands on this book since I saw the cover and the blurb.I believed I might have squealed in  delight when this became available on Netgalley.
Even though the plot didn't seem to be very different from all those other lovely books that can be found in the wild ,what sets this book apart was the writing style. Brodi Ashton , you are a genius! I was sucked in  from the very first page!

While I was reading this book I kept on thinking that the story wasn't THAT amazing, but I couldn't put it down. This just shows that it was very well written. Also, even though you THINK you know whats going to happen, this book surprises you. I love it when a book isn't predictable and the author doesn't give anything away in the first few chapters.I believe a lot of people might go mad with all the questions that keep popping up  in the first few chapters! The author keeps throwing fireballs( or twists) at you. This book keeps switching from the present to the past and vice-versa.It might get a little difficult to follow sometimes, but I love how the pieces come together bit by bit.

Let's talk characters...

Nikki
I'm not her biggest fan but I don't hate her either. I get her motivations and can relate to her . I think I loved getting to know how her character was in the past.

Cole
I loved how  in the beginning itself  the author makes sure we get to know that he is not a typical bad boy. You should not expect him to have a good heart deep down and you shouldn't expect him to change because of the girl.I really liked that about him! He's unpredictable and throughout the book I'm not sure whether I hate him or like him.

Jack
I love this guy! If there's a Team Jack button anywhere peeps,YOU tell me!!! I WANT ONE NOW!!! He's the most humane character of the three but he's not naive or stupid.(THANK GOD!)

I loved the flashbacks in the books, especially the happy ones. One thing I really want to tell you guys is the fact that the cover is amazing but I think it's too bright and colorful for this book. This book is DARK and a little depressing. The cover can be a little deceiving.

Another thing I'd like to say is the fact that for some reason I just didn't feel as if there was a love triangle in this book.I think the author might fully develop a love triangle later in this series.

Overall this is one book that kept me hooked, till the end and I'd love to get my hands on the sequel to find out what happens next!

My Rating: 4/5
Debut author to keep your eyes on!

  4. Jack was by far the best character in this book. He was such an incredibly, all around great guy. As far as the book, it took me a REALLY long time to get into this one. Other than a few scenes in the book, it took me until the last 50 pages to really get into it. I do want to read Everbound just to see where it goes. Hopefully, it gets me more excited than this first one.
