Have You Heard(1): The Trouble with Spells

A feature on this blog in which I highlight books that
people have never heard of.They could be by  Indie authors or just books that were released but didn't leave a mark. They could even be books that are yet to be released.
My first feature is on.....................
The Trouble With Spells (Of Witches and Warlocks #1)

by Lacey Weatherford
Blurb: Portia Mullins had always lived the life of a normal teenager, up until her sixteenth birthday. She is then informed by her grandma that she is actually a witch who is a descendant of a long line of witches and warlocks. After overcoming her disbelief she finds that being a member of the coven comes with one great perk in the form of the school's handsome bad boy, Vance Mangum. Vance and Portia have an immediate connection as a budding romance begins, only to be threatened by turbulent skies on the horizon as Vance's checkered past rears its ugly head to haunt them. Portia is forced to use her untried powers in defense of everything she loves in a desperate attempt to hold on to the one thing that really matters in her life.

FTC Disclosure:I received an ecopy from the tour coordinator . This did not affect my review in any way.
Note: Younger Readers cautioned.

My thoughts:
This book really surprised me.I had pretty high expectations because the tour coordinator kept on gushing about this book but I really didn't think I would enjoy this book so much.
I really liked the prologue of this book  as it was from Vance's POV.Unfortunately I kept on thinking that there will be more chapters from his POV(point of view) but there weren't(cries).
I really liked this book.Vance was so swoon worthy.Of course there were times when I thought that he was too intense, but I kind of understood his intense love for Portia. The one thing that I found a little creepy was how Portia instantly fell in love with Vance, but I forgive her for that because Vance is totally crush-worthy.
I really liked the story too.It was entertaining and interesting.I loved the twists and turns and  the ending makes you beg for more!
One thing I really liked about this book was the fact that the parents were supportive and clued into what was happening with their teenager.Usually the parents and family are conveniently absent from the story.
Also younger readers are cautioned because there is a LOT of kissing and talks about more...
Overall,I would suggest you buy this book NOW! It is totally worth the .99 cents .If you don't like it well... you're  only loosing a dollar.Vance is amazing and the book  manages to keep you on your toes.I can't wait for Book 2!
Pssttt... I'll be giving away the third book in the series this month i.e August 27.(I know! how awesome is that!)
My Rating:                                                         4/5
Very Good

  1. I loved this book! Actually, I loved the whole series despite the evilness of the endings. Plus, Lacey is really nice and responds very well to being called evil. :)
