Review: Marriage Mistake

THIS BOOK IS FOR ADULTS

The Marriage Mistake (Marriage to a Billionaire #3)
Carina Conte has had a crush on her brother Michael’s best friend, Max Gray, since she was a teenager. Now she’s earned her MBA and come to work at Michael’s new venture, America’s fastest-growing bakery empire. But some things never change: her family still treats her like a child. With three drop-dead gorgeous siblings, she’s still the ugly duckling of the bunch. And Max, the company’s new CEO, still barely notices her.

Max knows Carina Conte is strictly off limits. But hot-blooded lust wins out at a conference when the two share a scorching one-night stand—and are busted by her mother! Now, forced by old-world Italian tradition into a marriage he’s not ready for, Max is miserable—and Carina is furious. Her new husband is about to realize that hell hath no fury like a woman transformed….

My Thoughts:

This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone.
The first two books of this series followed a SET formula. I was able to ignore that because the characters were distinctive and drew you in but I was still wary of reading this book because I wasn't sure I would be able to forget the formula for the third time. Fortunately Probst decided to deviate from the set formula and keep me thoroughly engaged in this one as well.

There's loads of tension between the main characters.Carina has had a crush on Max since forever but she's decided to move on with her life and enjoy new experiences. Unfortunately Max isn't exactly on-board with her plan. Max wants Carina to stay in her clearly defined role of goody two shoes. What transpires is a lot of tension ,arguments and fun.

Marriage Mistake is great fun and the best part is that I couldn't predict exactly what would happen next in the last 10% to 30% of the book. My complain is regarding the blurb. It gives away TOO much. The things stated in the blurb don't happen for a long time and I kept expecting it to happen but it didn't . The blurb doesn't spoil the entire story but it gives away a little too much information in my opinion.

I hope this isn't the last book in the series. It was stated it was a trilogy but one sister is still left so fingers crossed.

  1. Oh I really enjoyed The Marriage Mistake too! I totally agree that the blurb gives too much away and the whole marriage doesn't happen till you're 70% in so you just wait for it. Still, I loved Max and Carina. There IS a fourth book for Julietta and Sawyer and I've read it. It was good too but it was much more erotic than the previous three. Great review Kadbury! :)

  2. Ohhhh I like the sound of this one! I like to that despite the fact that the first two books in the series followed a set formula this one branched out a bit and left you guessing a bit more. Bummer about the blurb giving a way too much though, I didn't read it so hopefully I'll be good to go!
