Review: The Lost Girl

The Lost Girl
Eva’s life is not her own. She is a creation, an abomination – an echo. Made by the Weavers as a copy of someone else, she is expected to replace a girl named Amarra, her ‘other’, if she ever died. Eva studies what Amarra does, what she eats, what it’s like to kiss her boyfriend, Ray. So when Amarra is killed in a car crash, Eva should be ready.

But fifteen years of studying never prepared her for this.

Now she must abandon everything she’s ever known – the guardians who raised her, the boy she’s forbidden to love – to move to India and convince the world that Amarra is still alive ..

My Thoughts:
I need to make something very clear.... I don't enjoy reading sad and/or depressing books that break your heart.I just don't like those types of books and usually stop reading them midway  because I just can't take all the sadness and then I go into depression for the next few days and my mood becomes something like this...

And then I become very philosophical .....

I knew The Lost Girl wasn't going to be a mindless teen romance and I still wanted to give it a shot!

The Lost Girl sucks you in from the first page itself and doesn't let you go till the very end and in the end you want more. You want the characters to get a happy ending.Even though the chances of a happy ending are very LOW you still wish it with all your heart and that shows that you've connected with the characters and have formed a strong bond with them.

I experienced a range of emotions while reading this book and that hasn't happened for a long time. This book makes you wonder.....

What  makes a person human? What makes a thing a monster ?What makes a person unnatural?

Eva is an amazing character. I formed a bond with her easily and really look upto her. She feels helpless but you never ever feel that she's pathetic. That's something that I don't see in female protagonists anymore. She's a type of protagonist that females can look upto.

Sean is also a great character. I'M TEAM SEAN FTW! In this novel there wasn't much hope for romance and romance is not the focus of this novel but if it was I would be campaigning for Sean. He's always supportive of Eva and he treats her like a human being.

Ray is a character I'm not very fond of,so I don't want to talk about him.

The secondary characters were amazing! Especially Amarra's siblings. They were so cute!

One thing I would like to point out is the fact that parts of this novel take place in India.Usually the portrayal of India is always off but not in this novel. I can see that the author actually knows what she's talking about and hasn't dug up information from Wikipedia.

Overall,This book broke my heart . When I had read only three chapters,I was touched, disgusted and happy at the same time and this wide spectrum of emotions continued throughout the novel. If there is a sequel I will definitely be in line for it.

Note: You need to read the author bio. It really made me laugh!

My Rating:
4/5
This book is an experience!

Top 10 Books I'm Looking Forward to in 2013

IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER
1.
Katarina Bishop and W.W. Hale the fifth were born to lead completely different lives: Kat comes from a long, proud line of loveable criminal masterminds, while Hale is the scion of one of the most seemingly perfect dynasties in the world. If their families have one thing in common, it's that they both know how to stay under the radar while getting--or stealing--whatever they want. No matter the risk, the Bishops can always be counted on, but in Hale's family, all bets are off when money is on the line. When Hale unexpectedly inherits his grandmother's billion dollar corporation, he quickly learns that there's no place for Kat and their old heists in his new role. But Kat won't let him go that easily, especially after she gets tipped off that his grandmother's will might have been altered in an elaborate con to steal the company's fortune. So instead of being the heir--this time, Hale might be the mark. Forced to keep a level head as she and her crew fight for one of their own, Kat comes up with an ambitious and far-reaching plan that only the Bishop family would dare attempt. To pull it off, Kat is prepared to do the impossible, but first, she has to decide if she's willing to save her boyfriend's company if it means losing the boy.

3.
Fate isn’t something to mess with… and now, neither is Alex.

Alex has always feared two things: losing herself in the Awakening and being placed on the Elixir. But love has always been stronger than Fate, and Aiden St. Delphi is willing to make war on the gods—and Alex herself—to bring her back.

The gods have killed thousands and could destroy entire cities in their quest to stop Seth from taking Alex’s power and becoming the all-powerful God Killer. But breaking Alex’s connection to Seth isn’t the only problem. There are a few pesky little loopholes in the whole “an Apollyon can’t be killed” theory, and the only person who might know how to stop the destruction has been dead for centuries.

Finding their way past the barriers that guard the Underworld, searching for one soul among countless millions, and then somehow returning will be hard enough. Alex might be able to keep Seth from becoming the God Killer… or she might become the God Killer herself.

With power comes enemies. Lots of them.

Hunter Garrity just wants to be left alone. He’s learned the hard way that his unusual abilities come at a price. And he can’t seem to afford any allies.

He’s up to his neck in hostiles. His grandfather, spoiling for a fight. The Merrick brothers, who think he ratted them out. Calla, the scheming psycho who wants to use him as bait.

Then there’s Kate Sullivan, the new girl at school. She’s not hostile. She’s bold. Funny. Hot. But she’s got an agenda, too.

6.

He makes good girls...bad.

Dante Walker is flippin’ awesome, and he knows it. His good looks, killer charm, and stellar confidence has made him one of hell’s best—a soul collector. His job is simple, weed through humanity and label those round rears with a big, red good or bad stamp. Old Saint Nick gets the good guys, and he gets the fun ones. Bag-and-tag.

Sealing souls is nothing personal. Dante’s an equal opportunity collector and doesn’t want it any other way. But he’ll have to adjust, because Boss Man has given him a new assignment:

Collect Charlie Cooper’s soul within 10 days.

Dante doesn’t know why Boss Man wants Charlie, nor does he care. This assignment means only one thing to him, and that’s a permanent ticket out of hell. But after Dante meets the quirky, Nerd Alert chick he’s come to collect—he realizes this assignment will test his abilities as a collector, and uncover emotions deeply buried.

7.

Anna Whitt, the daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a vow. She’d been naive about a lot of things.

Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.

When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

8.

And with the worsening Aether storms threatening the tribe's precarious existence, Aria begins to fear that leaving Perry behind might be the only way to save them both.

Warm Bodies Movie Trailer

So I recently saw this trailer and I really liked it. The commentary is so FUNNY! Plus,it's based on a book!

FUNNY RIGHT??
I thought that it was a zombie movie and it would be scary but it doesn't look like it's going to be...

I think I saw the girl in I Am Number Four...

I want to read the book now!!!!

BLURB:
A zombie who yearns for a better life ends up falling in love—with a human—in this astonishingly original debut novel.

R is a zombie. He has no memories, no identity, and no pulse, but he has dreams. He doesn’t enjoy killing people; he enjoys riding escalators and listening to Frank Sinatra. He is a little different from his fellow Dead.

Not just another zombie novel, Warm Bodies is funny, scary, and deeply moving.

Best Books I’ve Read in 2012

I'm not going to agonize over the order so in no particular order these are my favorite books of the year!

Out of the 91 books I read this year (according to Goodreads)

MY TOP 10

I was VERY close to giving up on this series but Deity was so good that I'm dying to read the sequel. This is one book Half Blood fans should not miss out on!
If there's one contemporary novel YOU NEED to read this year it's this one! Pushing the Limits breaks your heart and puts it back together again! I cannot wait for the sequel!

THIS NOVEL IS NOT YA.
This is the 5th book in the series and it was a nice surprise. I had VERY low expectations because the previous book was AMAZING and I didn't think anything could surpass that... I was wrong.
CANNOT WAIT FOR BOOK #6 i.e Magic Rises.

I read both If I Die (Soul Screamers #5) and Before I Wake (Soul Screamers #6)  this year itself but If I Die was THE BEST BOOK IN THE ENTIRE SERIES and I'll always cherish this book forever.

I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS BOOK! I've read it atleast twice and re-read my favorite parts atleast 10 times! I was suffering from Storm withdrawal (because I had lent my copy to SOOO many people) and I convinced my friend to lend me her copy of the sequel, which is also pretty great, just so I could be in the Elemental world again.Definitely worth a read!
THIS BOOK IS NOT YA
I LOVE THIS BOOK! I've never been so fascinated by a book before especially one that's not YA or for children. I discovered a wonderful genre called Urban Fantasy through this book.
Moon Spell by Samantha Young.
Samantha Young is an AMAZING author! This book is an indie novel but it's SO GOOD! I wouldn't be surprised if it got picked up by a publishing house soon (I mean On Dublin Street got picked up so there is a chance). This book is definitely one of the most amazing werewolves novels I've read! The kindle edition is dirt cheap so if you're looking for an entertaining read this Christmas GO
BUY THIS!

Another AMAZING Kate Daniels book I read this year! This book is a gamechanger! LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT! Definitely worth the wait.

I had read this book before it got picked up by Penguin but this was an AMAZING indie novel so I'm sure the Penguin version will be just as good if not better ! It's till pretty cheap for Kindle I wonder if Penguin will increase the price.... Anyways Reid was always my least favorite character in the series but in this novel I actually liked him! So kudos to Ms. Webber   for that!
I love fairy tale retellings and Robin Hood has always fascinated me! This book gave a nice and unexpected twist to the story we all know so well and I loved the characters! The female characters are great in this novel and the feminist in me was very satisfied with this book :)

HONORABLE MENTIONS
I have only 4 honorable mentions (I can't leave them out!)
The writing style and the characters were unforgettable. The story unfortunately was.

THIS BOOK IS NOT YA!
I was very disappointed with the latest Cat and Bones novel but this new series had me on my toes!

This is not the type of book I usually read or enjoy but I really liked it.

Poison Taster and Assassins with magic thrown in as well.. Need I say more?

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITES?
