Among the few who will even talk to her are Cassian, the pride’s heir apparent who has always wanted her, and her sister, Tamra, who has been forever changed by a twist of fate. Jacinda knows that she should forget Will and move on—that if he managed to remember and keep his promise to find her, it would only endanger them both. Yet she clings to the hope that someday they will be together again. When the chance arrives to follow her heart, will she risk everything for love?
In bestselling author Sophie Jordan’s dramatic follow-up to Firelight, forbidden love burns brighter than ever.

The Host

The Host (The Host #1)

Blurb:
Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact and continue their lives apparently unchanged. Most of humanity has succumbed.
When Melanie, one of the few remaining "wild" humans, is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.
Wanderer probes Melanie's thoughts, hoping to discover the whereabouts of the remaining human resistance. Instead, Melanie fills Wanderer's mind with visions of the man Melanie loves - Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she has been tasked with exposing. When outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love.

My thoughts:  Pick up this book right now!
This is a really good book.People who hate Twilight should also enjoy this one because it's not a very predictable love story. It's set in a different reality altogether.

I have devoured this book at least 3 times. I enjoyed it so much!
Even though the book starts off a little slowly(Most people just give up in the first 3 chapters) it really picks up and then things happen so quickly that you don't know what just hit you.

Wanderer was such a complex character. You sympathize and love her at once.I really liked her internal dialogues with Melanie. They were refreshing and different.

Ian...How much I love thee!
You're the guy I want to date in my future.Calm, collected and just plain amazing.I wasn't a huge fan of Jared but if he ends up with Melanie I'm fine with it.I will NOT be happy if he ends up with Wanderer!

I REALLY LOVE THE ENDING AND I'M HOLDING MY BREATH FOR A SEQUEL!

Overall, this book is different and amazing! Pick it up right NOW!\

NOTE: YOUNGER READERS STRONGLY CAUTIONED(you just have to read the excerpt to get why I'm saying that)

Excerpt:
The jewelry Vance had given me went perfectly with everything, and I felt quite sparkly, despite the nervous butterflies in my stomach at meeting a bunch of people I had absolutely nothing in common with.
Vance stepped out of the dressing room, and I turned to look at him in the formal cut tuxedo he purchased, while he fastened his tie in the mirror over the mantle.
He was magnificent, and I couldn’t even blink, let alone look away from him. For someone who was a self-proclaimed t-shirt and jeans kind of guy, he sure could pull off the formal attire well.
After finishing with his tie, he finally turned, letting his hands drop to his side while he stopped to stare at me.
“Stunning,” was all he said, his gaze raking over me, not once but twice, his blue eyes sparking to life as if I lit a match in them.
He was over to my side in two seconds, reaching out for me, and I backed away laughing, holding him at arm’s length.
“Don’t touch me. You’ll mess me all up again,” I said, knowing he wouldn’t care in the least.
He grabbed me easily and pulled me to him up against his chest, his fresh breath floating over me as he spoke.
“I’ll be gentle. I promise,” he said, and he placed a soft kiss on my lips.
I relented under his masterful touch, wrapping my arms around his neck and really kissing him back, letting my emotion flow into him, and he did the same to me. It was a breathless, yet tender, moment.
In the end, when the kiss was over, he kept his word. I only had to retouch some makeup around my mouth.
“I guess we’ve kept the guests waiting long enough,” I said with a sigh while he watched me reapply my lip gloss in the bathroom mirror.
“We don’t know any of them,” he replied with a smile. “If it weren’t so rude to my grandparents, I’d be much more inclined to stay in here tonight with you.”
“Me too,” I added with a nod, and I turned to place my hand against the side of his handsome face.
His eyes flitted down over my features and to my neck. “I guess I should let you have the opportunity to show off your new jewelry, though,” he teased.
My hand flitted up to where the new necklace lay at my neck, and I fingered it as several thoughts ran through my head.
“What’s the matter?”
“I was just thinking about how my amulet protected me when the roof fell in at the school, but it didn’t do anything when you or Damien bit me. Why is that?” I asked him.
He let out a soft sigh and pondered this for a moment before he answered. “Things like talismans are very selective in the way they activate. It’s a magic that’s helpful, but not to be relied on heavily.” He held up the hand which had the ring my grandma sent to him. “I wear this because it’s a gift of good magic from the coven. Maybe it’ll help me someday, maybe it won’t, but what does it hurt?”
I nodded. “I remember Grandma telling me it might not do you any good since your dad’s coven had already figured out ways around charms in the past,” I replied.
“It’s very difficult for something like a charm to ward off live magic,” he said while he fingered the diamond at my neck. “Your amulet protected you from something non-magical when the explosion happened, and it may have very well played a part in you being unharmed when you were almost hit by the car.
Neither of those instances had a magical force directly behind it.”
“Oh, I see,” I said, suddenly understanding the difference in the situations I had been placed in.
“Why all the questions tonight, baby? Are you feeling nervous, under protected?” he asked while he looked at me carefully.
I laughed nervously. “No. I just feel a little naked without the amulet. I’ve worn it for so long. And I’m a little nervous about meeting a bunch of people I don’t know,” I admitted truthfully.
He reached out and stroked my face with his hand.
“Portia, you have nothing to worry about tonight,” he began. “You’ll be the most beautiful thing in the room, and the guests are sure to be mesmerized by you as much as I am. And I promise you, I won’t let any harm come to you.”
“I know you won’t,” I said, trusting him completely, staring into his blue eyes.
I held my arm out to him, and he took it, leading me out of the door and to the grand staircase. We walked carefully down, turning into one of the massive hallways, walking until we reached the doorway to the ballroom.

Review:Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa

The Iron Queen (Iron Fey #3)

BLURB: My name is Meghan Chase.

I thought it was over. That my time with the fey, the impossible choices I had to make, the sacrifices of those I loved, was behind me. But a storm is approaching, an army of Iron fey that will drag me back, kicking and screaming. Drag me away from the banished prince who's sworn to stand by my side. Drag me into the core of conflict so powerful, I'm not sure anyone can survive it.
This time, there will be no turning back.

SOURCE: RAK FROM lunamoth(YOU'RE MADE OF AWESOME
LUNA!)

My thoughts:

This is by far the best book in the  Iron Fey Trilogy.
The book picks up right where The Iron Daughter ends.

*Spoilers if you haven't read the first two books* Meghan and Ash are heading towards Meghan's house and suddenly they encounter Iron Fey.*spoiler ends*

For all of you who thought it was over,it isn't.This book explores what We've all always wondered:

"Where does Meghan fit in the Iron Kingdom?"

This is by far the best book in the whole trilogy(I haven't read The Iron Knight yet)

Throughout the series I kept on thinking, this book is good but there's "something" missing, this book had that "something".

Ash was so wonderful in this book. For once,he's not trying to push Meghan away every second and Meghan....
Meghan has changed so much.
She has grown mentally and emotionally.I always thought that Meghan didn't stand up for herself .In this book she did.She really grew on  me in this book.I'm actually starting to admire her.

My only problem with this book is that it was slightly predictable and there wasn't enough Puck!

Fans of this series will love this one and If you haven't picked up this book ,you should because this book is totally worth your time!

I'm actually quite scared of picking up The Iron Knight because I loved the ending.Even though it wasn't perfect I loved it.It was like the ending of Harry Potter, sad yet hopeful. I don't think even the Iron Knight can top this book.

My Rating:
( WORTH YOUR TIME!)

FTC Disclosure:I received an ecopy from the author . This did not affect my review in any way.

My thoughts:
The synopsis really intrigued me and I thought that the story was from multiple perspectives(i.e. the guy and the girl's) but unfortunately it wasn’t .I really think that some of the dialogues wouldn’t have seemed as cheesy if we knew what was going on in that rock star’s head.

I really found the story and the idea interesting. It was real.Usually if a book is about real problems it ends up dealing with substance abuse but  this book did not deal with substance abuse (YAY!).

Also, usually if a story has a star/jock/unattainable guy and a normal girl, the story usually deals with only one problem: We can’t be together due to *insert reason here*.

What about what will happen if they do get together? Won’t the girl have to deal with jealous girls/aw-poor you people/paparazzi? This book deals with what happens after they get together too! I found this very refreshing.

I also liked the fact that the main character was mature for her age and not some OMG-I'M-IN-LOVE spunky teenager who falls in love with a person with her eyes closed.Sadie's complicated relationship with her mother was also an interesting twist in the boy-meets-girl story.

The ending wasn’t very satisfying as it seemed a little rushed but it was believable.

My pet peeve: The dialogues and the language. Sometimes, it was just too formal. They’re teenagers, they do not talk like that. Also, a lot of dialogues, (especially the  cheesy ones) were repeated quite often.
But, the fact of the matter is : I thought they were cheesy YOU might find them very romantic.

Overall: The book was  fun and managed to keep me entertained.Abbi Glines is an author to keep an eye out for.I think her books will get better.

My Rating:
(Not for everyone but worth a shot)

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING ON?

Guest Post: Music of the Soul by Tawny Stokes(Author of Static)

Today I have the author of Static,Tawny Stokes at this blog.I love her taste in music.(Broken is a really good song.I love it!).I'm really looking forward to reading her book. The synopsis got me hooked!

Music of the Soul
By Tawny Stokes

Music has always been a big influence in my life.  Today, I listen to different playlists to write.  The playlist will depend on the genre of the book and the mood.  To write my latest book STATIC I listened to a lot of Evanescence, Papa Roach, Adema, Sick Puppies, Skillet, Flyleaf and Breaking Benjamin.  Other books require a softer edge, so I’ll put on my Sia station, with some Lykke Li, and Bat for Lashes, and Beck and even Enya.  Songs will even give me new ideas for books.
As far back as I can remember, music has been there in my life.  I can pinpoint moments in my life with certain songs.  Billy Idol was a huge part of my life when I was in my early teens.  I cut and dyed my hair just like his.  I use to wear denim and leather and chains, and gloves, and do everything with a “Rebel Yell”.  I met a wonderful sweet boy during my Idol phase.  He was in his Idol phase as well.
Then I went from Idol to hardcore punk.  Dead Kennedys, Sex Pistols, Ramones, Buzzcocks, The Clash, SNFU, Black Flag.  I went to a lot of gigs with my big blue Mohawk and combat boots and slamdanced with the best of them.  Even dived off a few speakers in my time.  I was a bit of a groupie to some local bands, following them from gig to gig.
Mind you, I was never like Salem Vale from my book STATIC.  She’s a hardcore groupie to the band Malice.  And this obsession gets her into BIG TROUBLE.
Music and my past exploits in the punk scene, had a big part to play in STATIC.  Out of all my books, STATIC was one of the easiest to write.  It flowed out of me like water.  It is also one of my favorites.  And I hope it becomes one of yours as well.

Here is my partial STATIC playlist.
Broken – Seether (with Amy Lee)
Getting Away with Murder – Papa Roach
Kick in the Teeth – Papa Roach
Not Alone – Red
End of my Rope – Trapt
World So Cold – Three Days Grace
Comatose – Skillet
Beautiful Bride - Flyleaf
Is Music a big part of your life?  How has it influenced you?  Who are some of your favourite musicians?
