Interview with Aaron Patterson (Author of Airel)

Aaron Patterson is the author of the bestselling WJA series as well as a  two Digital Shorts 19 and The Craigslist Killer. He was homeschooled and grew up in the west. Aaron loved to read from a small child and would often be found behind a book and would read 1-3 a day on average. This love drove him to want to write but never thought he had the talent. He wrote Sweet Dreams the first book in the WJA series in 2008. Airel is his first teen series and plans for more to come are already in the works. He lives in Boise Idaho with his family, Soleil, Kale and Klayton. His daughter had an imaginary friend named She.
His latest book is Airel.  You can visit his website at StoneHouse Ink or connect with him on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1462837115.

Today,I have the amazing Aaron Patterson with me and he's talking about his upcoming novel,Airel.
Expected Publication:August 31st 2011
EDIT(7/29):Links:Amazon,BN.

Could you start things off by telling us a little about the book?

Airel is a almost normal teen who finds herself falling for a boy and even goes against her own desires to be independent. There are two stories that run side by side in this book. Kreios is the other side and is an angel who falls for a woman and leaves to be with her. But she dies in childbirth and he is on the run when a evil group sets out to kill him and his kind. Airel is somehow connected and the two stories unfold in the end to one sweet ending!

Who is your fictional crush(IT CAN'T BE FROM YOUR BOOK!)?
Laura Croft.

Is there going to be a sequel?
Yes, this is a 5 book series, maybe more.

If you had to describe your book in a sentence it would be...
Girl meets boy, girl gets sick and ends up running for her life and to top it off finds out she is not all human

What can you tell us about Airel(character)?
She is short, pretty but not a knockout. She likes coconut coffee and has a weird best friend Kim. She just wants to finish school and fly under the radar.

How is writing a book with help(co-author) different from doing it alone?
It is a ton of fun. I get feedback, we plot out things and working with Chris is not hard as he and I think alike. I write the entire book in the first draft and he gets it from there. We go back and forth till we are happy with it and it is off to the editor.

Any must read authors or series to our readers?
Hunger Games, The Fallen series.

Do you have a favorite scene or line from Airel?
I love the end scene, I wanted it to pack a huge punch and I believe it does.

Thoughts on your book cover(be honest!!!)
LOVE IT! It is sexy and soft, and holds you. Book 2 cover is just as cool... just you wait!

Michael Alexander is......?
The stud, a bit of a mystery and sort of a bad guy... maybe

.Rapid Fire(what it the first thing that comes to your mind when I say....)
Twilight
Long...
Black
White,
Harry Potter
Hair-cut
Airel
Hot!
Puck
Did you just cuss?
Wings
Honey BBQ, yum!
Coffee
Gotta have it!

Thank you for organizing this tour Dorothy!

Waiting on Wednesday(13)

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine to highlight upcoming releases we're anxiously awaiting! This week I am waiting on...
Epic Fail
by Claire LaZebnik

Will Elise’s love life be an epic win or an epic fail?
At Coral Tree Prep in Los Angeles, who your parents are can make or break you. Case in point:
As the son of Hollywood royalty, Derek Edwards is pretty much prince of the school—not that he deigns to acknowledge many of his loyal subjects.
As the daughter of the new principal, Elise Benton isn’t exactly on everyone’s must-sit-next-to-at-lunch list.
When Elise’s beautiful sister catches the eye of the prince’s best friend, Elise gets to spend a lot of time with Derek, making her the envy of every girl on campus. Except she refuses to fall for any of his rare smiles and instead warms up to his enemy, the surprisingly charming social outcast Webster Grant. But in this hilarious tale of fitting in and flirting, not all snubs are undeserved, not all celebrity brats are bratty, and pride and prejudice can get in the way of true love for only so long.

Expected publication: August 2nd 2011
Available for Kindle preorder!

As soon as I read the summary of this book,I knew I wanted to read it badly! Even though I'm not a pride and prejudice fan,I love reading light hearted books with  complications and drama(Meg Cabot fan here!).This book might be realistic fiction :D

Top 5 reasons Half Blood should be on your Wishlist

If you had been following me on twitter might have figured out that I'm in love with this book but those of you who are not.. This post is for you.

Top 5 reasons Half Blood should be on your             ((Wishlist
(In no particular order))
Summary:The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi pure-bloods have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.

Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:

Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden.

Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

  1. The Story:I am happy to say that even though this book has a love triangle it has a story(usually these do not go hand in hand).Plus, the story DOES NOT FOCUS ON the love triangle.
  2. Believable Love triangle: Ok,first of all it's not EXACTLY a love triangle but there are two very HOT guys.Secondly, you can actually see why the main character has a hard time choosing.
  3. Aiden: This character is swoon worthy! He gets brownie points for not being a jerk/freak/meanie etc.(you get my drift)
  4. Sarcasm:I love books in which people are sarcastic and Alex is sarcastic, all right. Her sarcastic comments had me in splits, throughout the book.
  5. Pacing: Just when I got over the new world and it's rules BAM! Something else happened.

Still,if you aren't convinced you might want to check out 6 sentence Saturday on the author's blog .
Oh,one more thing this book does not have a cliffhanger ending but you still want to read the next book!

Preorder:Amazon,
Expected Publication:October

Hex Hall

Hex Hall (Hex Hall #1)
Summary:Three years ago, Sophie Mercer discovered that she was a witch. It's gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie's estranged father--an elusive European warlock--only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it's her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hex Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward Prodigium, a.k.a. witches, faeries, and shapeshifters.
By the end of her first day among fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard: three powerful enemies who look like supermodels, a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock, a creepy tagalong ghost, and a new roommate who happens to be the most hated person and only vampire student on campus. Worse, Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her only friend is the number-one suspect.
As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all Prodigium, especially her.

Source:Borrowed

Cover Thoughts:The cover is actually relevant to the story!(I know that's rare) You'll just have to read this book and make the connection, I guess.

My thoughts: I had read this book a long time ago and I forgot to post a review,This article reminded me that I still haven't gushed about Archer yet!

I love Sophie! She's smart, kind and sarcastic. She doesn't start acting like a lunatic when put in front of a hot guy and I respect her for that!
I also liked the fact that the mother's supportive in this book and she hadn't abandoned Sophie when she was young.

This book is nowhere even near the AWESOMENESS that is Demonglass but It's a very good start.

The story was a little predictable but the ending was not.(Yes,it was a cliffhanger but not of the I- WANT- TO- READ- THE- NEXT- BOOK- NOW! caliber)

Note to the unsuspecting public:please do NOT read Demonglass before the next book comes out it will kill you!

Let's get back to Hex Hall,I loved the characters(Archer=SWOOON!) and I liked the story but the reason I would recommend  this book is the writing.Rachel Hawkins has taken an ordinary(somewhat) tale and made it extraordinary. This is one author to watch out for!

If you have low expectations of this book, you will fall in love but as I had very high expectations I felt that something was missing.

My Rating:
(VERY GOOD)

Cover Reveal : Spell Bound(HEX HALL#3)

OMG IT'S FINALLY OUT!!!!!!!!!!!
I love the purple!

Food for thought from the author's blog:

As for the actual stuff happening on the cover...hmmmm....is that a SWORD Sophie is holding? Whoever could THAT belong to? And there in the bottom is that...is she...why, YES, I DO believe she's wearing a rather rumpled looking Hecate Hall uniform. What is THAT all about?

It looks like it's part of the series doesn't it?

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE COVER?

Waiting on Wednesday (12)

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine to highlight upcoming releases we're anxiously awaiting! This week I am waiting on...
Ward Against Death (Chronicles of a Reluctant Necromancer #1)
Twenty-year-old Ward de’Ath expected this to be a simple job—bring a nobleman’s daughter back from the dead for fifteen minutes, let her family say good-bye, and launch his fledgling career as a necromancer. Goddess knows he can’t be a surgeon—the Quayestri already branded him a criminal for trying—so bringing people back from the dead it is.

But when Ward wakes the beautiful Celia Carlyle, he gets more than he bargained for. Insistent that she’s been murdered, Celia begs Ward to keep her alive and help her find justice. By the time she drags him out her bedroom window and into the sewers, Ward can’t bring himself to break his damned physician’s Oath and desert her.

However, nothing is as it seems—including Celia. One second, she’s treating Ward like sewage, the next she’s kissing him. And for a nobleman’s daughter, she sure has a lot of enemies. If he could just convince his heart to give up on the infuriating beauty, he might get out of this alive…

Expected publication: August 2nd 2011 by Entangled Publishing
Note:According to the publisher this title is not suitable for younger readers.

Raise a person from the dead and fall for it ? This I have to read!

Review-Drop Zone:Terminal Velocity

DropZone: Terminal Velocity

Under the demanding guidance of their ice-cold leader, an ex S.A.S. explosives expert with many live covert special ops missions into active war zones behind him, the Raiders are developing into an impressive unit. This time, the mission lands Ethan and the team in the most perilous adventure of their careers. The bodies of homeless teenagers, are turning up dumped on the street, having been beaten to death. At first no-one really seems to care but then one survives long enough to talk of being forced to fight in a cage and the authorities suspect organised crime. Note:  This book is not suitable for young readers due to language(according to publisher)

My thoughts: Before I review this book let me clarify some things:
  1. I have not read the first book in this series
  2. I picked it up because it sounded a lot like CHERUB.
Even though this is not the first book in the series it is pretty easy to grasp.

The backstory:Ethan is recruited by an agency because of his love for skydiving. This is a covert agency.

The story was good and the book kept my attention. It did remind me of CHERUB and the Alex Rider series.Ethan is a character that I couldn't really connect with but I really liked his friends.Cage fighting is also a new concept,so I had fun reading about it.

My pet peeve with this book is
SKYDIVING
The reason I picked up this book was because I've never read a book that deals with  skydiving before, but I was thoroughly disappointed as I felt skydiving didn't really play a huge part in the story. These people are supposed to be skydivers but I felt more engrossed in the Alex Rider type scenes!

Overall: This book is a good alternative to CHERUB/Alex Rider even though it is not as engrossing  as any of them.

My Rating:
(3 STARS)
good
