My Thoughts:
Cinderella is my favorite fairy tale and when I found out that there was going to be a retelling of it in a futuristic world I was very skeptic. Most of the time I avoid reading things that try to give a new spin on something I love because then my expectations are sky high but Cinder does not disappoint!

This book has actually made me fall in love with Cinderella once again! People who think that Cinderella is lame because she just sits around moping all the time and wishes that a prince would whisk her away will LOVE Cinder. In this retelling Cinder stands up for herself doesn't swoon over the prince all the time and is a cyborg! Interested yet? You should be.

The best part about this book is the fact that it's so unique yet familiar at the same time.Meyer introduces us to a completely new world which has scenes and characters that remind us of our beloved fairy tales. The world building is fascinating and at the end of the book leaves you wanting more. You don't want to leave the wonderful yet sad world that the characters live in.

The story is captivating but in parts predictable but I think that might be intentional. The plot doesn't slow down and there are ample twists and turns. Even though I knew what the big reveal would be before it was revealed I couldn't put the book down and that in itself speaks for the story and the plot.

The characters are amazing. I love Cinder she's like a badass and more awesome version of CinderellaKai was an interesting character as well but I felt that there wasn't enough of him in the book to actually form much of a bond with. Iko was one of my favorite characters in this book as was Peony.

Overall, I cannot wait to get my hands on the sequel which is supposed to feature Red Riding Hood. If the author manages to make all the books in the series as amazing as this one she'll be on my auto buy list forever !

My Rating:

4/5

  4. I still need to read this! I first was a little nervous and unsure because I haven't had much luck with retellings and the cyborg thing threw me off but with great reviews like yours it is only a matter of time before I start it. :)

  6. I'm not a huge fan of Cinderella because she pretty much does nothing and get everything handed to her but I loved Meyer's retelling. Here, Cinder has to work for everything and the worldbuilding is amazing. I'm sure you're going to love Scarlet!
