Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine to highlight upcoming releases we're anxiously awaiting! This week I am waiting on...
3 BOOKS!

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer #1)

Blurb:
Mara Dyer doesn't think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
It can.
She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.
There is.
She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.
She's wrong.
Expected publication: September 27th 2011

Daughter of Smoke and Bone

Around the world, black handprints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky.
In a dark and dusty shop, a devil's supply of human teeth grown dangerously low.
And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherworldly war.
Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real; she's prone to disappearing on mysterious "errands"; she speaks many languages—not all of them human; and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color. Who is she? That is the question that haunts her, and she's about to find out.
When one of the strangers—beautiful, haunted Akiva—fixes his fire-colored eyes on her in an alley in Marrakesh, the result is blood and starlight, secrets unveiled, and a star-crossed love whose roots drink deep of a violent past. But will Karou live to regret learning the truth about herself?

Expected publication: September 27th 2011

A Beautiful Dark

BLURB:On the night of Skye’s seventeenth birthday, she meets two enigmatic strangers. Complete opposites—like fire and ice—Asher is dark and wild, while Devin is fair and aloof. Their sudden appearance sends Skye’s life into a tailspin. She has no idea what they want, or why they seem to follow her every move—only that their presence coincides with a flurry of strange events. Soon she begins to doubt not just the identity of the two boys, but also the truth about her own past.
In the dead of a bitingly cold Colorado winter, Skye finds herself coming to terms with the impossible secret that threatens to shatter her world. Torn between Asher, who she can’t help falling for, and Devin, who she can’t stay away from, the consequences of Skye’s choice will reach further than the three of them could ever imagine.
A Beautiful Dark is the first book in a captivating trilogy by debut author Jocelyn Davies.
Expected publication(YOU guessed it!): September 27th 2011

All of these come out on the same day and I'm dying to read ALL of them!  RELEASE ALREADY PLEASE!!!

Top Ten Books I Feel As Though Everyone Has Read But Me

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish.

Everyone keeps talking about this one! I really need to dig this one out from somewhere! There's even a sequel(or is it a prequel?)

KILL ME NOW! Really,I still haven't read it,even though every third blogger/person/friend keeps on talking about it!
The person who sits next to me has read this one and I haven't even read the description ,yet!
  • Dracula by Bram Stoker
I should really read this one! Everyone keeps drawing comparisons between this one an Twilight.
I have the movie!
I haven't even seen the movies yet!

  • To kill a mockingbird
Even though it was my school assignment,I didn't read this one!
  • Any Shakespeare play
Don't gasp! I've read excerpts,I've seen the plays, over analysed passages  and I know the story of each and almost EVERY ONE OF  THEM but..... I've never really read any of them in their original version! Apparently,it's better to read the translations or abridged versions.
Zach was a semi-finalist in the crush tourney and I was mortified to learn that around 5,000 plus people had read about him and I hadn't!

Betrayed Blog Tour : Guest Post +Giveaway!

Today I have Ednah Walters, author of Betrayed(The Guardian Legacy Book #2) on my blog! She;s talking about her library! Over to you Ednah.....

MY LIBRARY
As a writer, we get sage advice from veterans in the field to read, read and read. To be a writer, you must also be an avid reader. You get a feel of the genre you plan to corner by reading books in that genre, they say. What if you love to read and it has nothing to do with what you’re writing? I’m one of those people who will read anything as long as it has a good plot. Sometimes, I read them because I want to learn something new or need help with an answer to a question. And at times, I read my children’s books.

Below if the list of some of my favorite books in each genre, from fiction to non-fiction.

Middle-Grade books:
Harry Potter series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Pendragon series, Eragon series, Goosebumps series, R.L. Stine books, Alex Rider series, Artemis Fowl series,Vladimir Todd series, Skullduggary Pleasant series, Unwind and other books by Neil Shusterman

Young Adult: The Mortal Instrument series, Vampire Dairies, Vampire Academy, House of Night series, Hungers Games, Daughters of the Moon series, the Princess Diary,

Romance – Black Dagger Brotherhood series, Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark Hunter series, L.A. Banks vampire series, Jude Deveraux (historical romance), Judith McNaught (historical romance) Catherine Coulter…actually any romance-fantasy, urban fantasy, contemporary and romantic suspense books

Mystery and Espionage: Tom Clancy, Robert Ludlum, Jonathan Cook, James Grisham and Mario Puzo.

Non-fiction:
The Road Less Travelled by Scott Peck
The People of the Lie by Scott Peck

So what books would you recommend I add to my library?

AUTHOR BIO
I grew up reading Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys mysteries before I graduated to Mills & Boons (starting with Janet Daily's Shutter the Sky).

I enjoy good love stories, tingly mysteries and wondrous adventures. When I finished college and decided to be a stay-at-home mother, I devoured books like they were going out of production, until reading just wasn't enough. So I decided to teach myself to write fiction.

I've written picture books, contemporary and romantic suspense, biracial/multicultural books, and finally YA fantasy. Most of them are still taking up RAM on my computer. Awakened is the first book in The Guardian Legacy series. It was released in September 2011 with rave reviews. Betrayed (book 2 in the series) was released August 1st 2011. Hunted, book 3 in the series, is due out in March.

When I'm not knee deep in battles between Guardians and demons, I write adult contemporary romance (the Fitzgerald family series), sassy, stubborn and gutsy women anyone can identify with and men anyone would be proud to claim. When not writing, I do things with my family, five children or my darling husband of 19 years. I live in a picturesque valley in Utah, the setting for my YA series.

Slayers by C.J.Hill

Slayers
Blurb:Dragons exist. They’re ferocious. And they’re smart: Before they were killed off by slayer-knights, they rendered a select group of eggs dormant, so their offspring would survive. Only a handful of people know about this, let alone believe it – these “Slayers” are descended from the original knights, and are now a diverse group of teens that includes Tori, a smart but spoiled senator’s daughter who didn’t sign up to save the world.

The dragon eggs have fallen into the wrong hands. The Slayers must work together to stop the eggs from hatching. They will fight; they will fall in love. But will they survive?

Expected Publication: 09/27/2011 i.e  27th September

My  Thoughts:
I had pretty high expectations from Slayers.Unfortunately very few books have lived upto my high expectations, and this book didn't either.

The Prologue was a little too long and didn't leave you wanting more but the book picked up pace in the first chapter. I liked Tori ,I didn't love her but I liked her.She wasn't a spoiled rich kid ,she was a rich kid who was a pretty but a geek inside.

The story was quite good but the pacing wasn't so great. When I was through 70% of the book, the pace  picked up  and the story became very interesting.

I also loved the fact that we got a peak at what was going on in different characters heads.I love books that have chapters from various characters POV(point of view).

I also liked Dirk and Jesse i.e the hot guys of the book.I considered Dirk to be more of a secondary character till I was halfway through the book, then BAM out of nowhere he's suddenly in the spotlight.Jesse was the guy I was swooning over in this book and I was dying to read more chapters from his POV.

The love triangle seemed a little forced too.It seemed as if the author decided that there was going to be a love triangle at the last second and added it  to the story-line midway!

I probably would have liked this book much more if there was more light banter between the characters. The characters took themselves way TOO seriously. There were some scenes which made me smile (Thank you Dirk and Bess) but I wanted more! I understand that they were in a precarious situation but I think I would have enjoyed this book much more if there had been a  little more silliness and playfulness in it .

Also the group's obsession with Ryker(love the name) was a little bit unsettling.I felt like screaming at the characters "HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW YOU EXIST! Stop BLAMING him already! Plus,You're giving him way too much importance. You should focus your energy on the people who left!"

The one thing I really liked was  the ending.I really liked it! It's not a cliffhanger but it intrigues you . If there's a sequel to this book I will definitely be reading it!

Overall, even though this book did not live up to my expectations,I couldn't put it down and can't wait to read what happens next!

My Rating:
(3/5)
GOOD but could have been much better

Cover Alert! OBSIDIAN by Jennifer Armentrout

If you guys don't know already I am a HUGE FAN of Jennifer's book Half Blood(I will write a review soon I promise!).She's turned into some kind of writing machine as she has approx. 5 YA books which are to be released soon...and the newest addition is

OBSIDIAN

Blurb:
Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, outhouses, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring. Until I spotted my hot neighbor with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marked me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and the mark he left on me has me lit up like Las Vegas strip to the bad guys. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. If I don't kill him first, that is.

And then things got really bad…
