THAT

calls for a celebration!

Today I'm offering up the sequel of the MOST AHMAZING debut contemporary novel of 2012 i.e

DARE YOU TO

by Katie McGarry

blurb
Ryan lowers his lips to my ear. "Dance with me, Beth."

"No." I whisper the reply. I hate him and I hate myself atfor wanting him to touch me again....

"I dare you..."

If anyone knew the truth about Beth Risk's home life, they'd send her mother to jail and seventeen-year-old Beth who knows where. So she protects her mom at all costs. Until the day her uncle swoops in and forces Beth to choose between her mom's freedom and her own happiness. That's how Beth finds herself living with an aunt who doesn't want her and going to a school that doesn't understand her. At all. Except for the one guy who shouldn't get her, but does....

Ryan Stone is the town golden boy, a popular baseball star jock-with secrets he can't tell anyone. Not even the friends he shares everything with, including the constant dares to do crazy things. The craziest? Asking out the Skater girl who couldn't be less interested in him.

But what begins as a dare becomes an intense attraction neither Ryan nor Beth expected. Suddenly, the boy with the flawless image risks his dreams-and his life-for the girl he loves, and the girl who won't let anyone get too close is daring herself to want it all....

Release Event : Until I Break by M. Leighton + GIVEAWAY!

THIS BOOK IS FOR ADULTS

Until I Break
Laura Drake is an author.  She writes bestselling paranormal romances that continue to top the charts.  She is sharp.  She is confident.  She is in control.

And she doesn’t exist.

Samantha Jansen is the woman behind the wig, the woman most of the world doesn’t know exists.  She is shy.  She is insecure.  She is nothing like her main character or her alter ego.  She is scarred—deeply scarred—by a past she can’t let go of and a present she can’t make peace with.
Samantha’s dreams are consumed by one man, the broken hero from her books.  Mason Strait is both her wildest fantasy and her most terrifying nightmare.

When Samantha meets Alec Brand, a corporate consultant, it is as though Mason has come to life.  Alec is handsome to a fault, as elegant as he is arrogant, and more intense than any man has a right to be.
Samantha is soon sucked into a world that mirrors the fiction she writes.  Just like her main character, Daire Kirby, Samantha finds herself unable to resist the forbidden lure of Alec.  And just like Daire, she also finds that she is faced with taking a chance on a man who could either set her free or destroy her.

The scale tilts toward destruction when Samantha finds out that Alec is as much a work of fiction as Mason.  And he has scars of his own, scars that could ruin them both.

EXCERPT

“Ohmigod, ohmigod, ohmigod!” she hisses through lips that move very little.  “Here he comes!”

I don’t move. Not a single muscle.  I just stare into Chris’s wide eyes until a shape appears at my right.  Slowly, I turn my head and look up, falling headlong into the most amazing eyes I’ve ever seen in real life.  I see them in my head all the time.  And I saw them from somewhat of a distance.  But no amount of exposure could’ve prepared me for the reality of them up close.  They’re like drops of cool lime with a splash of warm cream.

He glances away from me and nods to Chris before his eyes return to mine.  He tilts his head slightly to the side as he considers me.  Still, he hasn’t said a word.  Still, my pulse is racing out of control.

“Can we help you?” Chris says from across the table. I can hear the smile in her voice.
He doesn’t answer for several long seconds.

“I know you.” It’s a statement, not a question.

A voice inside my head, one that I only listen to when I’m writing, cries out emphatically.  Yes, yes, yes!  You know me inside and out!  Just like I know you.

But I shush her.  He doesn’t know me.  He couldn’t possibly.  And I couldn’t possibly know him.  Even though he looks and, thus far, acts exactly like the man that arose from the core of my imagination, from my darkest desires and deepest fears, I can’t let myself forget that he’s not Mason Strait.

“No,” I reply.

He falls silent again, his continued perusal making me increasingly breathless.  Finally his eyes narrow on me.  “I want to.”

SHORT TEASER
“This really isn’t necessary, you know.”

“What isn’t necessary?”

“Knowing every detail of each other’s life.  I already know everything I need to know about you for what I have in mind.  I don’t want you to be confused about what’s going to happen between us.”  Although I’m disappointed that he doesn’t want to know me and doesn’t want me to know him, it’s almost immediately dashed when he takes a step toward me.  “The things I’m going to do to you, the things I’m going to show you have nothing to do with your job or your family or where you spend your time.  It’s just about you.  And me.  And all the pleasure we can give each other.”

YRAH Bday GIVEAWAY: Book Of Choice or a HarperCollins Title

YOUNG READER blog is now 2 years old!

And

THAT

calls for a celebration!

Don't forget to check out the previous posts

I'm going to talk about the journey of this blog in this post before I get to the giveaway because I think I need to document it somewhere.

I'd started blogging in 2009.
I used it as a personal forum and posted ONCE in 3/6 months.
I actually blogged on this portal only .
This site was called Krazzyme-krool and I used to post random posts with bad grammar and lots of exclamation points (I still use lots of exclamation points though :P)

Then I joined Goodreads and I discovered the wonderful world of book blogs!
I believe the FIRST book blog I visited was Reading Teen  . They introduced me to the concept of book blogs and giveaways.

So I converted this blog into a book blog and renamed it. I wanted the URL to be youngreader but that wasn't available so I called it youngreadersathome
(Something I'm not too happy with right now because it's a little too long!)

I'm a lazy person so my first review on the blog was basically just copied from Goodreads.

Paranormalcy by Kiersten White

AND I got my first follower via GFC . Her name was Jenny and she had a white flower as her Google profile image. Thank you Jenny! I wish you would have commented sometime and if you're reading this you have my undying gratitude.

At first I used to post sporadically and used to post more about giveaways being hosted on other blogs than  my own thoughts on books (ONLY excuse I was lazy and I thought nobody was reading the blog )

Then I was part of a giveaway hop hosted by I am a Reader  and suddenly I had almost a 100 followers and they were actually READING what I was writing.

I pulled up my socks and started posting a more regularly and tried my best to make my reviews informative and interesting.

So basically the difference is because of
YOU GUYS!

My awesome readers and followers!
YOU MOTIVATE ME and ENCOURAGE ME to do better!

The motivation also comes from the numerous amazing blogs that I read . They're so well written and so informative. I am completely in AWE of them!

I don't want to point out any specific blog because there ARE TOO MANY! Many of them are ones which I don't read often because I feel TOO jealous and I get depressed because they're just SO MUCH better than my tiny blog.

You rock fellow BOOK BLOGGERS!
*give yourself a pat on the back from my side *

I HOPE ALL of you keep supporting my blog in various ways and keep encouraging me for many more years .

THANK YOU ALL!

YRAH Bday: Interview with Fiktshun + GIVEAWAY!

YOUNG READER blog is now 2 years old!

And

THAT

calls for a celebration!

Today I have Rachel from Fiktshun over at the blog!
Rachel is an inspiration for me. I stalk her blog and she's been one of the most helpful and nicest people I've ever interacted with virtually. I will literally stalk any site she decides to start up!

So without furthur ado I present to you one of the most awesome bloggers ever.....

Fiktshun button by parajunkee

What advice would you give to shy book bloggers for improving their networking skills?
I'm not the greatest person to give advice about this as I'm really shy with people I don't know. But I would say get involved in community events online like Armchair BEA or the BBTC that Parajunkee and The Bookish Brunette just put on. Jump into conversations on Twitter with other bloggers. Most of us don't bite. Or join a super social meme that involves getting to know other bloggers.

Just keep putting yourself out there. While it might not always be easy, and the fear of rejection will likely always be there, if you don't do it blogging will be a lonely endeavor. I couldn't have made it through without the friends I've made in this community.
Your tips for blogging success are
Be honest and speak in your own voice. People visit your blog to hear what you think. If you spend all your time trying to emulate someone else, you'll end up failing because you're not being honest with your readers. It will be too hard pretending day after day. Just be yourself.

Don't fall victim to "the rules." There are no rules. Etiquette, yes. But if you try to follow all the "rules" that are thrown out there, you'll end up feeling so stifled and unhappy you won't want to do this. Remember that it's your blog and there's no right or wrong way to do it.

Don't over-promise. It will just stress you out. Big time. You're doing this because you love it, hopefully. Try not to worry about passing on an opportunity or saying "no." Believe it or not there will be other opportunities. It's much better to say that you aren't able to, than to say you can do something and then fail to deliver. Being stress-free and having a reputation as being a reliable blogger that can be counted on are two things that will help in the long run.

Oh and these are just my "tips" for success that seem to have worked for me and not "rules." I've defined success as being able to blog as long as I've been blogging not in terms of how many followers, how many pageviews or how many publishing contacts I have. If you're looking for tips on how to get those... well, I haven't a clue.

Movie/TV show you are obsessed with?
If you asked me a couple of months ago I would have said The Vampire Diaries. Now, though, it's Supernatural. Hands down. I am majorly obsessed.
Books you would recommend to complete strangers?
Ugh... I'm terrible about book recommendations. Books are such individual things that I'd never recommend anything to a stranger. I'd have to know a little something about their reading preferences.

Even within a sub-genre I'd never offer up a suggestion unless I knew more. Such as if they like contemporaries to have drama and heartache or if they like them fun or flirty. In paranormal - which supernatural beings do they prefer, and do they like their stories dark and gritty or with less of an edge. So, yeah, way too hard to make recommendations.
Some adult novels that you think are definitely worth a gander?
While I love a lot of the classics I don't recommend them, because most people will have read them in school and it just makes me feel pompous to do so.

And while I don't do recommendations, I think Stephen King's THE LONG WALK - a dystopian with characters who are teens - is definitely worth a read. Even with the younger characters, it's not YA. Perhaps due to the time period it was released or the rather bleak/violent subject matter. I'm also quite fond of his Dark Tower series. (And by "quite fond" I mean hugely obsessed. Favorite series of all time and there will be nothing written in my lifetime that will take its place.)

Janet Fitch is one of my favorite authors and while I love PAINT IT BLACK, I think WHITE OLEANDER is also a great read.

Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus have some amazing contemporary books. And they also do YA. THE NANNY DIARIES was hugely popular. But my favorite book of theirs is DEDICATION. It's one of my all-time favorite contemporary books, actually.

For those into PNR/UF, anything by Rachel Vincent and Chloe Neill. For those who like things with a bit more heat, Kresley Cole or Jeaniene Frost.
Rapid Fire ( the first thing that comes to your mind when you see the following words...)
Twilight – Sparkly Vamps.

Black - Black Flag. (The punk group, not a bunch of dark flags.) Though Sirius Black comes a close second but that could be because your next question is Harry Potter, LOL.

Harry Potter - Quidditch. (Dunno why that popped into mind.)

Hot - Vampires. (As if I could have answered in any other way.)

Wings - Aprilynne Pike.

Coffee - Essential.

T.V. - Favorite time suck.

Love - Eternal.

Merlin - WIZARD AND GLASS. (Stephen King novel, of course.)

Rachel has been AWESOME enough to offer up something for giveaway (SEE... I told you it's tough to even be jealous of her she's so nice...)

So in honor of Rachel this giveaway is going to be the simplest of all the giveaways I have had so far...

GIVEAWAY
ONE book of their choice not to exceed USD $20 from Amazon or The Book Depository depending upon location

PSST: Extra brownie points for whoever tweets @fiktshun to thank her for this awesome giveaway use #YRAHbday please. (She didn't let me make this an entry for the giveaway but you'd have my gratitude if you did :)

Don't forget to check out Rachel's website Fiktshun.
I believe she's celebrating 2.5 years of blogging as well!
