Inbetween Review ,Excerpt + GIVEAWAY

 BLURB:
Since the car crash that took her father’s life three years ago, Emma’s life has been a freaky — and unending — lesson in caution. Surviving “accidents” has taken priority over being a normal seventeen-year-old, so Emma spends her days taking pictures of life instead of living it. Falling in love with a boy was never part of the plan. Falling for a reaper who makes her chest ache and her head spin? Not an option.

It’s not easy being dead, especially for a reaper in love with a girl fate has put on his list not once, but twice. Finn’s fellow reapers give him hell about spending time with Emma, but Finn couldn’t let her die before, and he’s not about to let her die now. He will protect the girl he loves from the evil he accidentally unleashed, even if it means sacrificing the only thing he has left…his soul.

My Thoughts:
I enjoyed this novel.

Story
The story is the highlight of this novel. There were so many twists and turns and I loved how the author put her own spin on reapers and how they functioned.I was really surprised by the ending and that doesn't happen often! I loved the fact that this book doesn't end with a cliffhanger.

I also liked the fact that the story is told from both Emma and Finn's point of view.

Characters

Emma was an interesting character.I could sympathize with her and really admired her strength.I liked Emma.

Finn was a character that came across as a little too intense at times and I wasn't his biggest fan.

I loved Cash. The fact that a bad boy was an amazing friend who was always there for Emma just blew me away .For  the first time I was actually praying  hoping that there would be a love triangle .I'm still disappointed about the fact that there was no love triangle but fortunately the second book in the series is going to focus on Cash

I really liked the secondary characters in this novel (Finn's friends Easton and Anaya).I hope to read more about them.

What I didn't like
I was never sure of the fact that Finn liked EMMA.He was basically obsessed with Emma because she was a reincarnation of a girl he really liked . At the end of the novel I still wasn't sure about the fact if  he was in love with her just  because she was the reincarnation of the girl or because he liked her.I'm not sure if  he can actually differentiate between Emma and Allison or he just thinks of them as the same person.Finn was also a little too obsessed with Emma for my liking in parts.

The one thing I really disliked about this book is a SPOILER but it really annoyed me.
Basically Emma and Finn let their lust for each other cloud their judgement and take advantage of a person.I was really disappointed with Emma when  this took place .I thought she was a good person that would never let something like that happen.I was actually a little disgusted with both of them after this scene took place.I was very close to giving this book a 5 but I couldn't forget this scene and because of this scene I'm giving it a 4.

World building
The world building and set up was amazing.

Overall , this was a great book and I'm going to keep my eyes out for the sequel.

My Rating:

4/5

Great Reaper Story!

Excerpt

Since I loved Anaya and Easton,I'm going to post two short

excerpts from the novel which feature them.

A ringlet of white smoke seeped from under the ruined hood and twirled up into the air.
"Looks like we have a winner."
Anaya pulled her pearl-handled scythe from the leather belt she wore around her white dress, and twirled it in her hand. The twelve inch blade, with it's efficient, palm sized handle, gleamed like it had never been used.

I glanced down at my sad excuse for a scythe with it's plain iron handle and dingy blade.Heaven's reapers got all the perks.

I may have been a slave to the Inbetween, but I was still a reaper, for God's sake.We were supposed to be the stuff of nightmare and legend. You'd think they'd at least give me a decent scythe.
"Hey,what do you think the chances are of me scoring one of those?"
"Keep dreaming,Finn."
-Excerpt from ARC.May be different in the final copy.

"It wasn't your fault. You thought you were helping." He shook his head.

"Hell,you were helping.She's alive,isn't she?

Sure, she's got problems, but what seventeen-year-old kid doesn't? Haven't you ever read Judy Blume?"

I looked at Easton, his spicy sable hair blotting out the warm lavender sunrise,"You've read Judy Blume?"

"Screw you. You're the one haunting the high school student."
-Excerpt from ARC .There may be some changes in final copy.

  2. Hmmmm I can definitely see how being unsure of whether or not Finn liked Emma herself or the girl she once was would make things tricky. I just finished a book that had a similar setup, and it was hard to get behind the romance because it felt really one sided. I'm super excited about Cash though, I think I might be rooting for a love triangle in this situation as well, and that's almost unheard of:) Fantastic review!
